The Artist Behind the Brushstrokes
I am Iryna Catto - an abstract artist who works with textured acrylics, gold leaf, and expressive colour. Although I spent my childhood studying in a traditional School of Art, life eventually carried me in different directions - new responsibilities, new places, and new chapters that left little room for painting.
Years later, after moving to Airdrie, something shifted. The wide prairie sky, the bright open landscape, and the warmth of the community stirred something inside me. A creative voice I thought I had left behind slowly began to return.
Coming back to art has been a journey of transformation, reflection, and rediscovery. Through bold textures, layered colours, and soft metallic light, I create abstract work that captures movement, emotion, and the quiet, powerful moments of personal change. My paintings explore themes of belonging, resilience, gratitude, and the gentle ways we continue to grow.
Each piece is an unfolding- a blend of memory, landscape, and inner evolution. For me, painting is not only a medium; it’s a lived experience, a reminder that transformation is fluid, luminous, and always in motion.
